MAC 0S 10.3.3 slow file retreival performance on w2k server

Most of my macs where upgraded to 10.3.3 some i still have mac os 9, the problem is in the 10.3.3 macs when searching or retreival of a file in a w2k server volume i do not have the problems with mac os 9 machines. i troubleshooted problem in the mac os 10.3.3 on the network settings set the connection to manual to 7200 mbits this makes file access faster but slows down internet i get a choice of 15000 to 7000 mbits if i set it to 15000 the reverse is true slow file access fast intertenet access if i set it to around the middle get no better result any help is appreciated thanks
