We have a spreadsheet that is updated nightly and emailed to the owner. This file can be emailed to him with no problems from our main store but when the file is emailed to him from our second store the file will not open and you get the following message:

'<filename>.xls' cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding.

The is not read-only from the sending location nor is it read-only when I receive. The sender has no problems opening and utlizing the file before or after they email it. I have tried saving it to my local drive before opening it and I get the same message.
We have tried sending it to multiple email accounts and get the same error.
I have read previous threads where users were getting this error but none were related to email; all had issues opening the file at all. But the file can be opened from it's original sender's location.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

I'm not sure what you mean, but the size of the attachment is 413KB

I was just checking the obvious (sending a link). Does the second store have any problem emailing other attachments?

No, not that I know of, but we tried sending it to a Gmail account and were able to open.

Something to do with settings on the firewall or server on our end?

Yes, there is macro to protect/unprotect all sheets at once.

Bingo! I suspect the virus software on the server is flagging the file as potentially malicious. It would then lock the file so that you can't open it to prevent running the code. I would guess that you need to go into the virus software and unlock the file.
