Further to my post below about Netscape mangling my front pages at and I tried to change the layers to tables as suggested. However, when I try Modify>Layout Mode>Convert Layers to Tables I get the following error message:
"This file cannot be made compatible with 3.0 browsers because it contains nested layers"

Then it appears that the conversion to tables does not take place, and the page then doesn't load properly in Netscape 4.0.

I need the nested layers, so how do I convert the layers to tables? I'm sure it's just a preference or something, but I can't find the right switch.

The layer tags are set to DIV (If I change the tag to "Layer", the page loads correctly in Netscape, but not in IE). The Netscape resize fix is ON.

Any help really appreciated.

What makes you think it is "just a preference" ??

As far as I am aware, when D/W converts layers to tables, it just makes each layer into a cell in the table. This is why it cannot cope with nested layers because it doesn't know how to create such cells.

I can only think of 3 possible solutions here: either try to find another way to avoid the use of nesting, or design the table manually, or leave your nested layers as they are. I am fairly sure that D/W won't allow tabled to be created if you have used nesting.

Thanks Stuart - I worked this out for myself eventually. DW wont convert to tables if there are nested layers, but you can upload without converting to tables. In this case, IE will read the layers, but Netscape 4.x can't read them and mangles the page.

Interestingly Netscape 5 will read the nested layers.

Thanks for your help
