Lpt4-9 dos problem 1

Hi everyone

I work for a company that has a dos program written in COBOL. In windows 98 when I wanted to print
in a network printer I just did a net use in lpt6 and it worked just fine. In windows xp when I do the same it does not work in ports lpt4 to lpt9 if when I do the net use in lpt3 it works fine.
Why is that happenig?
Can anyone help me
