An employee at my company uses a Dell Inspiron 3500 laptop to connect to the Internet and receive e-mail when he is out on the road. This morning he brought his laptop in to connect to the Internet and check for critical updates via our network, which has always worked. When he booted up the PC the display had changed to 640X480 and the touch pad and mouse control will not work unless I boot up in safe mode. When you boot the PC up in safe mode everything works, except we cannot change the display pixels to 800X600.

Any ideals would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Roy

in safe mode you cant change display higher 640/480. reinstall the drivers for touchpad/mouse and see if it works.

Lemon13, I started to search for the drivers since the person that has this pc cannot find his dell driver cd, but the mouse and touch pad work during safe mode. I was thinking of reinstalling the video drivers but again he doesn’t have the driver cd.

I downloaded the drivers from dell, but when I told the system to install the drivers the PC says none of the drivers were selected for the video.

My solution maybe 2 lb hammer.

Roy

Thanks Lemon13, former employee has several Dell Inspiron 3500 laptops and he has e-mailed the drivers to me.

Thanks for your suggestions.
