ok ok ok
so i love this site,, it has so much info on adobe and i've learned a few things while lookin for an answere to my question (reversing a clip,,,, man,, i lookd forever for that)... anyways,, here it goes....

I made a EPK (electronic press kit) that i want to put on dvd,, problem is when i exported my time line, the sync is all messed up on my audio and video. my original clips are in mpg (shouldnt be the problem). this is my first time ever using the audio from the video clip in my project (fearing this is the problem). I also have a tonne of titles. all in all,, 3 video tracks and 2 audio tracks.
ALSO, viewing the preview on my project, everything looks and sounds fine,,, great actually,, but why would premiere(6.5) add or delete certain audio. WIERD,, there was a clip that had some fowl language in it,, previewd, the clip is great,, exported,, the foul language is gone and replaced with a repeat of the first 1 or 2 seconds of that clip,, why would the audio double like that????

Im fairly new to all of this. its my 6th project using premiere6.5 and i love it. it was the reason i bought a vid cam in the first place. everything ive done was putting video over a whole song (1 audio clip) and never had any problems before.

if anyone can help me,,,, PLEASE PLEASE,, let me know,, it would be greatly appreciated..
thanx alot

It is not a good idea to use MPG files as your sources for a Premiere project. They're in a compressed format and Premiere just doesn't do a good job with them. Try and use a format that isn't compressed. Then you can output MPGs.

Irsmith,,, thanx alot,,, i kinda had a feelin of this,, but wanted to refuse so, seeing how i was already so far in my project. Does this mean i have change the format of my clips to .avi??? ok ok ok,, im afraid of this whole thing now... im goin to see if i can find file converter,, i dont know if my TMPGEnc can do the job. I know it can change avi to mpg,, but reverse,,, im goin to have to research it. Also,,if it doesnt work,,am i goin tohave to do the whole time line over again,, sheesh,,,
i'll chek back again on this thread,,,
thanx again

It is one thing to go from AVI to MPG, but an entirely different animal to go from MPG to AVI. AVI is uncompressed, meaning you have all the available information from the original video source. Once you go to MPG, it is compressed and you lose some of that information. You cannot get it back. That's the niche with MPGs---the information lost isn't that noticeable when viewing...until you try to edit it.

You may have some luck find some converters that do a better job than Premiere, but your resulting video will never be as good of quality as the original AVI. It's similar in taking a small photo and enlarging it. It won't look that good, but there are probably ways to enhance the images better than other methods.

My suggestion is, if possible, locate the original video sources (before MPG). You will have to reinsert the clips as they are a different source. Not the answer you want to hear, but good information to know for future projects.

Just keep in mind that MPGs are good for final results, they are rarely useful as a starting point. Good luck!

thanx for the info.
problem solved.......
I went back into my project and studied it,, hopin there is a way that i can change the mpgs into avis. My tempgenc (whateva) did the trick. I didnt know that it can do that much trix actually. What i did was change all my mpgs to avis. imported them into a new bin,, and juss remove my mpg clips (after chekin the start n end) and replace them with avi's. the file is a lil larger,, but workd out exactly how i wanted it. I put it on a dvd and it workd (left it in avi format)
like i said,,,
THANX A HELL OF A LOT,, i couldnt do it without you and i even made my dead line which was yesterday morn.

p.s.
im assuming...that if i convert from avi to mpg, that i would be losing quality, no?

Usually loss in quality going from AVI to MPG is not noticeable to the average user, especially when watching on your TV screen.

Glad to hear everything worked out for you. I use tmpgenc as well--it's a very good utility.
