lost smartstart cd's

Hi all, i'm trying to rebuild a Compaq server - but using the SmartStart CD verion 6 something, it's giving me an error saying i have to use version 5.5 or earlier.

However i have no idea where those disks are as i've only been in the company for 6 months and everyone seems to think they've been lost anyway.

Could anyone tell me where i can get a hold of the version 5.5 smartstart CD or earlier (compaq are only selling verion 6 onwards) or maybe suggest a work around?

Compaq support does have them, you just have to insist.
However, you don't really need those cd's to setup a server.
Just install NT with a regular disk, all other tools etc. can be downloaded from the Hp / Compaq site.

I've tried to talk Compaq Support out of a SmartStart CD for a PL1600 but they won't give in. They are more than happy to sell me one for $169. or something but that's it. I just started with this company and I've got 3 PL1600's and 2 PL800 but not one SmartStart CD anywhere. If anyone has info that would be great. Even an image to download or something would be very helpful.

yeah it took a lot of searching to get V5.5 - i had to call a company called Zomax - and it only cost me 10 GBP + Tax and shipping.

I don't know if they deliver to North America - but you could give it a try. Email them at Smartstart@Zomax.ie with your purchase order and billing address and Shipping address if different, and tax details - they'll tell you about it.

Alternatively if they won't deliver to you, email me and i can get a copy to you.
