Hi I'm desperate here, my DAO help has disappeared from the Access help.

The only thing I think I've done that may have affected this is install Office Service Pack 2 (why?why?why?)

Anybody any ideas? I've done the repair, added the visual basic help again, access itself has told me it's repairing it 5 times but still no joy.

Thanks

Have you done a virus scan. Nimda will screw up all kind of things with Office. If nothing seems to work, try downloading a new copy of your virus scan and run it and see if you have a problem.

Have you done a search to see if the dao help file is on your pc. Help files typically end in .CHM - Probably looking for DAO360.chm which you can open directly when you find it.

In Access do you have a reference set to the DAO library?

Please let me know if you get anywhere with this one, I've got the same problem!

Cheers

Sharon

Thanks for the tips.
I've found the DAO360.CHM help file and I can load it directly - I think that's what I'll have to do because:
yes, DAO is referenced
my pc is scanned every day completely, as well as having a virus scanner live all the time both on my pc, on our email server and at our firewall. I'm just scanning again.

Sharon - did you put on the Office service pack 2?
On msdn there are some references to this happening with some other MS applications and some references to editing a help index file so that the reference in the help is restored - anybody any idea if I can do this with Access 2000?

Thanks again everybody

Hi All,

I've just got round to copying DAO360.chm to my harddrive (that was the problem, thank-you cmmrfrds!) but each time I try & look at it from Access it tells me I need to repair help - I can still view it though, whether I choose to repair or not!

I copied to
Code:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033
& also tried
Code:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office
&
Code:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VBA\VBA6\1033
as I wasn't really sure where I should be putting it!

Sharon

On my PC it is in.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO

When you look at your references, is the above library where your reference for DAO 3.6 is pointing.

That worked for me too! Thanks a bundle
Alasdair
