If you are having some library hardware problems or have simply forgot to turn on the library before booting your backup server, ARCserve's Library configuration can be lost and corrupted. If ARCserve Device Configuration can't fix it then:
Stop the Tape Engine,
delete Hkey_Local_Machine/Software/ComputerAssociates/ArcServeIT/Base/TapeEngine,
Go into ARCserve's Device Configuration and re-setup the Library, Cleaning slot(very last slot), quick initialization, barcode reader etc.
Re-setup the virtual libraries if necessary.
Start the Tape Engine.
In ARCserve Manager, Check the Device Group Configuration. If there are empty groups, delete them and rename the other groups with slots appropriately.
