Lost Icons with NFuse/PnAgent

We have a Citrix XP 1.0 FR2/SP2 farm where users connect to a desktop, then we use Citrix PnAgent v7.00 to allow user to connect to other apps published on different server.

We've configured PnAgent to build its structure in the start-menu, however; sometimes the application icons are replaced with an icon with gray background and a white cross, but the link still works. It seems really random, I have checked the permissions for the IUSR account on the Icons folder on the NFuse server.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Make sure that both the Internet Guest Account (IUSR_[servername]) and Launch IIS Process Account (IWAM_[servername]) have Modify, Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read, Write (ie pretty much everything) to C:\Inetpub\ Always check this after (say) running Microsoft's iis lockdown tool (ie
If you have changed the rights, you need to restart the web server (restarting the service should be sufficient)otherwise it will cache the icons - including the ones that were never created because the rights were insufficient - and not be able to display the image although the links will still work. Once everything's ok, you should see the icon files being created in C:\Inetpub\ as people connect.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply - the IWAM account didn't have modify (only read) before on the NfuseIcons folder. I'll test this during the day and get back. Is the NfuseIcons folder a cache folder only that should be empty when noone is logged in? Mine is full with loads of different versions of the same applications-icons - is this correct behaviour?

Also, I use PnAgent V7.00 and FR2, is FR3 the preferred version to support V7.00 - can this be an issue?´

Thanks

The different icons are for different users. They *should* clear out as people log off, but don't necessarily. Ah well. Stopping/restarting the web service and/or server should do this, but I wouldn't be too fussed if it doesn't.

As for versions - nah. V7 client should work just fine with FR2. V7 client is preferred for FR3, but should be backwards compatable for other versions of Citrix.

Cheers

Hmm my NfuseIcons folder doesn't seems to clear up, but never mind.... have assigned the permissions you suggested but it doesn't help. I still ge randomly crossed out icons.

I even put FR3 on the servers but no differense. Hmmm what else can be wrong except for the permissions??

Thanks for any ideas, I'm running out of them...

Hmm.... no idea either. Demonic posession. Gotta be. ;-)

Did you run the iis lock-down utility? If so, maybe run it again and "roll it back" for the moment and see if that helps. If it does, then if you apply it again make sure you choose "ASP server" and then recheck the permissions afterwards. If the server had IIS installed after applying whatever win2k service pack it's running, I'd reinstall the service pack.

Also, there's always the old fall-back position of unistalling NFuse (make sure the directories are all deleted) and then reinstalling it, of course....

Sorry - I'm otherwise running out of ideas as well. Of course there's always Apache.... <grin>

Cheers

I did not run the lcok-down utility..... and I have had two different NFuse/Citrix farm installations now with the same sympthom so I don't think there is anything wrong with the actual NFuse. Hmm can I upgrader NFuse 1.7 to Web Interface for free? Do you think it's worth trying??

Thanks

Can always give it a try - what the hey - can't hurt. Quick question - the servers were all built from scratch or were they "imaged"? If they came from a single image, maybe the donor server had issues and hence the same problem on all the servers?

Cheers

After beeing in contact with Citrix they supplied us with an unofficial hotfix that solved the problem!

Thanks for all the help anyway!
