Lost Icon Pictures after W2k Upgrade. 1

I upgraded a Windows 98 machine to 2000 and found that the Recycle Bin, My Computer and Network Places on the desktop and in windows explorer, had lost their icon symbols.
Any ideas how to get them back please.
I've got a few others to upgrade and I don't want this to keep happening.

If you go into display properties, effects tab, what icons are showing in the Desktop icons box - and does clicking on default icon restore expected value?

I don't know, but would suspect there may have been something not quite right about the previous win98 setup.

Finally - its generally considered a good idea to do a backup then clean install when upgrading from 98 to 2k, to avoid future problems (upgraded 98 is just not as stable).

I feel like a divvy not knowing about the Effects tab. Clicking on Default Icon Restore did the trick.
