lost file 2

[BLEW2]

my Norton works2002 utilities,run from cd says that i have "lost" a file : mscoree.dll. Questions !
1) what is this file for ?
2) where does it belong?
3) where can i get a new file from?and how do i put it back?

i have two obvious problems, i have problems , 1)loading and running norton works 2002 (used to be ok ) and 2)a drop down menu headed MEDIA CENTER keeps appearing AND DISAPPEARING.
i have run windows "systems file checker" but thers so much clutter from previous legitimate deletions that i didn't get anywhere.everything else seems to run

This one looks like it will work.

I don't know what this file is-google gives lots of hits, in the absence of other posts you could try looking at some of those for further information.

cs.exe cannot be foumd
symantec/nortons "fix" is to forget it, since it does no harm

did IE6 "repair" and then succeeded in downloading mscoree.dll and unzipping it to windows\system. norton windoctor now repairs missing mscoree ok
BUT i still cant load norton works 2002 professional,it asks for a "2002 virus disk", which of course i do not have.
it has been loaded many times without this message. virus check 2003 also gives trouble/will not run.
