I run a small domain controller and I had to reinstall OS both on PDC and BDC. Somehow, several computers can not log on the domain and I keep getting messages that they've lost their SID's and I have to use cached profiles. What can I do (besides to install a fresh copy of NT4 Server both on PDC and BDC and create new computer accounts)? Could anyone help me, please? Thank you in advance!

Sounds like you are experiencing more than one symptom. It also sounds like you made a new domain. Did you have a backup of the Security files from the old domain controllers(rdisk.exe /s)? If so you should be able to restore those and get your world backup. Not a good idea to restore both PDC and BDC in one fatal swoop. This removes some of the resilency of haveing a backup DC. If you can restore the security files to your PDC you may be ok. Then repeat on BDC. You can also restore from a good tape backup if you selected to backup the security portion.

Hi,

What OS is on the clients?

Presuming it is nt based:

1) Join a workgroup on the PC,
2) Delete the computer from the domain,
3) Reboot pc,
4) Re-join the domain.

This will re-create new computer accounts.
Re-installing the os on the bdc and pdc will not resolve this issue.
