Lost Components Pulling Site from Web

I am charged with making changes to a site that was made by someone else. I do not have access to the original author's files. I have pulled down the whole site from the Web, and made a new GoLive site on my computer. (the site was originally made in GoLive I believe)

I find that most of the images on the site were done using components, and I can not find any of these components from the site I pulled from the web.

Am I out of luck? Is there a way to regenerate components that are working and active on the web, and also show up on the individual html pages, but do not show in the .data folder or the components area of the site?

I am lost and the client is breathing down my neck. Help.

When the previous person uploaded the site to the server they probably used the option to strip GoLive elements from the code. This results in a smaller more readable web site. But it also removes all the information GoLive uses to manage components, templates, url tracking, etc...

Is it possible to recreate the components and reattach them to all the pages? - yes. Is it easy - NO!!!

I've been in this situation a couple times. The first time i recreated and reattached everything. Then i figured it would have been a lot faster to recreate the site from scratch. So the next time i had to do this i recreated the site from scratch.
