I am configuring some Cat-2950s and am having a problem with losing IP connectivity to them. I have given them each an IP address on Vlan1 which is also the management Vlan. After a period of more than a half hour and less than 6 hours, the IP connectivity to and from the switch quits. The only timeout value that I can find that could possibly correspond is the ARP cache timeout but that does not make sense to me. Does it timeout? Please let me know if you have any insight.

Hi Lobo

Just a guess but have you got spanning tree enabled on the switch

if you have only the one switch on your network try disabling it.

STP may be placing your ports into blocking mode

to disable go to global config and type no spanning vlan 1

It actually turns out that it is a known problem caused by a buffer leak. There should be an update this month.

Hi,

I have seen someting similar what bug report/details do you have on the problem? An details helpfully received.

Thanks
