Until last night I was running a Celeron II 600 @ 900mhz. At this time I was playing Half-Life at 30-50fps. I was getting a lot of freezing and errors etc in windows so I decided to put it back to 600mhz. I formatted and reinstalled Windows and Halflife and now when I play it I get 4-10fps! I have a Geforce 2 MX 32meg vid card and 256 ram and I shouldn't be getting this low of a framerate!

I've also noticed that my whole computer in general is running fairly slowly. It's not just Half-Life. When I'm playing an mp3 and installing something at the same time everything is very slow and the music skips a lot. Maybe it's something that I did wrong when I changed the processor back to it's original speed? When you change it back you just have to change the bus speed on the mobo back to 66 and change the voltage on the converter card back to 1.5v right? Did I do something wrong here?

Can anyone help me out here please? Thanks a lot!!

600-900MHz sounds like one heck of a jump in speed-50% ! I wouldn't dare to set it this high. One point...play mp3's whilst installing? doesn't sound like a good idea as the processor and drive are both being 'thrashed' during mp3 playback. Really the system should be idle for installing. There is an excellent article on this forum regarding clearing out your computer when the system slows down, have a read. As regards the settings on the mobo, sorry, can't help-but I would have thought 600MHz adequate, maybe look at overclocking your graphics card itself, this may be where most improvement can be gained? Not really my area, but maybe someone can add something useful to this. Hope you sort it. Andy.
