I have a w2k server which for some reason cannot ping a remote server(on the same subnet). I can use the add route command and can then ping the other server. However after a short period of time I can no longer ping the server and have to add the route again. I have tried adding a persistent route but receive the same results.

My syntax is: route -p add 10.159.16.31 mask 255.255.254.0 10.159.2.1

Would anyone have any information as to why I am losing this route?

thanks

Dan

Is this a multi-homed server? Your interface addres appears to be a different subnet on the same network- could be updated by RIP or other routing protocol- are these guys on the same wire or across a layer 3 switch/router?

Just some things to look at...
