Losing internal dialtone

Hello all,
Has anyone ever heard of internal dialtone fading out after a few seconds. I have a customer who's receptionist, as well as a few others in the office, are complaining about this. I personally have never seen this before and was wondering if anyone else had seen this or found a fix for it.

is it on the speakerphone or handset?
spk phone yes - maybe becos of ambient noise

Thanks for the response senk1s, didn't even think of noise cancelling circuitry. I'll call the customer and check.
