I have a winxp pro machine where I map to a external usb drive on a server (win2000) to verify backups, every time
the winxp machine is shutdown I lose the mapped drive, I have to remap every morning?
To clarify, Server is never shutdown, I can map the drive, then shut my machine down, restart and it's completly gone, it's driving me nuts, any help to retain my sanity.........thanks

When you map the drive you must make it a persistent mapping by either putting a check in the checkbox to reconnect at logon, or if using the comand line, net use x: \\server\share /persistent:yes

Also, I have found that unless you have standard user privledge or higher (administrator), the mapping will not save anyway. So check your user privledge first.

David.
