Hi.
I recently installed a wireless solution for join two Novell servers, both have installed in different contexts and trees. The pc with Novell Client can logon to both servers without problems via the wireless. The problem surges when an application executed remotly (a station on network A runs from network B). The software runs up to certain modules and when indexing database files, or the program open several files the conection to this server is lost and user must re-logon. But the worst of this is that server on network B dont permit to logon even if terminals are turn off and on again, making necesary restart the server, after that all is working ok. This situation is aleatory. We have made some changes in novell client and deleted the licenses that is repited in network. Both servers are configured with ipx and ip, one is Novell 4.11, the other 4.20 SB. The wireless is via Dlink AP900+ with last firmware update for getting more antenna power. Both networks have 192.168.3.xxx ip class. Where could it be problem?? All tips are welcomed.

Hi

Sounds like the watchdog is not clearing the connections on the Server. You might want to check the watchdog timeout settings in (Monitor or Servman can't remember which for NW4) etc
I had a similar problem with an outdoor radio link between two servers years ago. It seemed that on certain days think link would be worst than others and with a high load it would fall over just as you have found. We drop the speed of the link by about half to ensure the data integrity and this gave good results, but uping the output sounds good as well to see if the link will stay up. We called the Radio tech's in again and again, but could find nothing wrong. I finished up getting on the roof of the building with a telescope myself and changed the direction of the tramsmitter (they had it pointing about 15 degree's from where it should have been) and we got the dropped connections down to around once a month with both measures in place.

Good Luck

Hi David.
Thanks for your aid.
Nowadays I resolved the problem. It was caused by two reasons. One: the IP address of the 1st Nic wasn't working well, we interchanged between both Nics on the same server, Two: the access point was linked to a 3Com switch, which was conected to server via a Trendnet Nic card. The second Nic in server was a 3Com and we changed the cable between both Nics. At the end the access point is conected to Lan via the 3Com,not Trendnet as was in the begining.
I guess the main problem was in the IP address, I say it because the PING module in Novell couldn't reach the Trendnet card meanwhile 3Com Nic was reached by ping module.
After all the installation is working ok...
If you have another experience related to this please talk about it.
