Hi all.
I am looking for a way to use input a username in an input box that will then use the username add it to a specific row/column and excel cell and then display the result in a popup box that the user has to aknowledge by clicking ok before they can continue with their work.
The situation is this: I have a pupil mark book that I wish to ensure that the pupils can access their marks easily without having to "see" all of my markbook, any ideas? Thanks.

Do you have any code yet? If so, please post what you have with a precise description of the problems that you are having.

Hint, you need to use a do while to check the value of each cell in the column until the length of the cell = 0 to check for a match to your user name.

You might find it beneficial to hire someone to code this for you since you seem to be out of your realm.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Yes I guess you are right,
I need to shelve the idea until I can learn more. Unfortunatly its only for solving my own teaching needs to help the pupils with easily getting access to their lesson marks. I will return to this later, but thanks for your suggestions anyway.

Hi all I have is what has been posted, I spent all weekend try to research how to use the data as inputed into the generated Excel sheet, to then find the row number in the Actual Workbook. I got nowhere...
I am still trying to understand the concept and to use snippets of code to cobble together a solution.
Looking for any help, websites, books etc to learn vb et.
Thanks stressed school tech

Do not let the pupils close to you know. That is not a good example. You have spent more than 15 days and only get what you have posted which I think equivalent to what the members have posted. And you refuse to spend that 15 days to read a book of "teaching you vbs in 21 days" type? which after that will take you another at most 15 hours to arrive at a meaningful script of that functionality? and be more versatile to write much more...?

I would suggest you import your data into Access and design an Access query that the students can use. It will be much easier for you to figure out than the scripted solution.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
