Looking for a SQLServer SQL function similar to an INGRES one

Hi,
I'm looking for a SQLServer function which is similat to the following:

shift(char,int)

This padds out the char with the number of spaces specified in the int, if it is negative, it's pads from the left else from the right.

Concatenate SPACE to pad the string with n spaces.

Examples: cocatenate 8 spaces.

Select space(8) + Col1 From table1 --Left pad
Select Col1 + space(8) From table1 --Right pad
