Does anyone know if there is a utility that can be installed on a workstation that will allow an administrator to log into different groupwise accounts without having to log off and log back on to the server. Just something that will allow to "switch user" for GroupWise only and not the entire network.

Yes. You can "proxy" into the other mailboxes using the GroupWise client. However, the user must first give you proxy rights to their mailbox.

For security reasons, if you don't have proxy rights you cannot easily log into another user's mailbox.

I am aware of the proxy rights option. I am IT Mgmt. and Administrator. I know everyone's passwords and we do not allow users to change their own but neither do we login and read their emails. I am looking for a way to see not only the size (in MB's) their mailbox is but also how many messages they may have, without reading them of course. I remembered sometime back when I was looking for something else I came across a utility that I think did what I want to do and that is basically let me switch GroupWise users by logging in as them just to the GroupWise system. This is something that is sanctioned by my boss...the CEO/President/Owner.

This information can be retrieved using the "Collect Statistics" option in GWCheck. To make it easier to read, use the GWMBSize utility that I referred to in your other thread.

P.S. Since you know everyone's password, another thought would be to manually log into each mailbox and give yourself proxy rights. You could then just proxy into each mailbox without having to re-login.

Thanks Darkshadeau. dhd10, the post you referred to (1) does not really answer the posters question IMHO. (2) does not answer this question as I am looking for statistics by user. But thanks for the reply none the less.

Just to let everyone know there is a utility that does exactly what I want to do. It is called GroupWise Kickstart and can be found here...
Basically all it does is reads the path to the GroupWise client executable from the registry. Then it allows you to store command line switches in an INI file and select the options from a ComboBox. You can acomplish the same thing by going to start and run then typing the commands to start the GroupWise client with the command line options. Using this utility though will allow you to set up a bunch of different users or options one time then simply execute KickStart and choose which user then click a button. Would be very easy to write your own app to do this same thing. Using this method you DO have to know the users password. You have to have GroupWise 32bit client installed but it can't be running when trying to "switch users" or you'll just end up in your own mailbox. Just thought I would share in case anyone is interested.
