Hello everyone,

I am frequently having to create fixed field length files for import into a system. I know how to do this with DTS, I am just very tired of the troublesome steps it takes to adjust a deal with.

Does anyone know of a utility that will will export to fixed field length fields? All of the ones I have found are for Oracle or MySql. Ideally, I would like one where I can type in a SQL statement and it exports it out to whatever the column definition is.

I am hoping that somewhere out there a utility exists. BTW, the price range I am looking for is the very low to free price range (doesn't it figure :) )

Thanks,
Patrick

Tell us how Query Analyzer doesn't fit the bill.

Use Tools|Options, Results tab: pull-down "Results to file" and "Column aligned.

HareBrain, thanks for the terse reply.

The largest problem I have run into with Query Analyzer is that null values are printed as 'NULL' into the text. This is obviously a serious detriment if I am utilizing this data for population of other data sources.

I am also hoping for something that might have more functionality (might be nice, but not necessary). Just tools that make life easier, like listing the columns by location.
