Hi

I have a Windows 2000 Server SP4 with Windows XP SP2 clients, I get an error now and then on the server about "not supporting LFNs" when copying word docs, MS Office is not installed on the Server but it is on the clients..

Is there a way to support / enable LFNs on W2000 Server without installing office on it?

Thanks

Long filename support is setup by default under all NT type OSses (NT,2000,2003,XP). Unless you have hard coded the registry entry to disable it, ie enable 8.3 format only. (unfortunately I don't remember the key offhand).

thanks, I have not touched the registry, its a new install of W2k server

Is it possible you are saving files to a very long directory path or your filenames are larger than 255 characters? Although XP doesn't seem to have that limitation, Win2K does.
