Long File Names Being Truncated

Anyone know why long file names would be truncated to 8.3 standard. Is there some setting or option that I need the change.

Here is the kicker:
Sample file Name: "FileNameIsMe.doc"
It is not doing "FileNa~1.doc"
It is doing "FileName.doc"

Is this when burning to CD (or on a network) or just in the normal operation of the local file system?

Yea, I just found out more information on this:

It may not be an XP problem

It is doing this when files are being saved to a Novell 4X server. I am thinking that there is a Novell setting to change the namespace for the user that is having the problem.

Now that I know the problem is with the network I am going to get our network admin to look at the problem.
