Long Distance Question

Here's our scenario:
1. The caller places a call to our 800 number which maps to DID xxx-xxx-xxxx.
2. This DID also happens to be configured as a CDN, which as I'm told from this forum, can not be configured with a NCOS like a phone extension. All calls placed to this DID number map to our local Qwest T1 (Route 3).
3. This CDN/DID is used in our call routing software and needs to be able to send the call back out our long distance T1 (separate route - Route 0) if a long distance agent is available to take the call.
4. Currently when we try to route the call from this DID/CDN to a long distance line, the caller hears a fast busy tone.

I assume the reason we are hearing the fast busy tone is because we are trying to send the call back out the same Route the call is coming in on, when we should be sending the call back out our long distance trunk.

So, my question is this: How can a call be sent in on a local trunk and sent back out on a long distance trunk. Is there some trunk to trunk transfer setting to change that may be set to NO?

From what I've read and asked about before on this forum is that we are certainly using BARS because we dial a 9+1+number to get out to a long distance number, which utilizes our LD trunk..Right?

Our local area code is: 480, which when I print our the NPA for 1480 is shows me that I am using RLI 3.

When I print out the FRL in LD 86 for RLB/RLI 3 it displays FRL 3 with a DMI 2 using Rout 0 (this is odd since Ro

One of the area codes we need to send the call to is: 217, which when I print out the NPA for 1217 shows me that I am using RLI 3.

The same information is printed in LD 86 for RLI 3 as our local area code of 480.

Is this a trunk to trunk issue? A NCOS setting on the trunk? Any ideas?

Thanks everyone!

why a cdn? i would have built a dsc in load 87, new cdp, etc. then you can point it to any rlb you want, sounds like you need a new one, that deletes 4 and inserts 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx,.. then send it to any route you want. by making the frl of that rlb 0, the call will not block..if you go this way and need the code let me know

I need it to be a CDN because our call routing software needs to have the messaging necessary (via CNTL = YES) to route the call off the CDN to the appropriate agent in our environment (either in the office or externally via long distance).

Any thoughts on how to allow the CDN to dial long distance?

since that is hte case i would send the DFDN to a distant steering code, using a new rlb/dgt with the frl set low enough to allow the trunk to trunk

Could you explain this a little more to me John? I'm pretty new to this.

Thanks man!

John:
How do you do this? Thanks man!

i'm at home so the prompts will not be exact..
ld 86
new
dgt
dmi x (any unused dmi)
del 4
insert 1231 xxx xxxx,
return all other prompts.
new
rlb
rlb x
route x
dgt x
frl 0,
ignore all other digits
ld 87
new
0
cdp
dsc
dsc xxxx (a unused dn)
rlb x
flen 4
then in your cdn point the dfdn to the 4 digit number in your new dsc, the 4 digits will be deleted, the exact number will be put on the route with a frl of 0, meaning any trunk or station with an ncos of 0 or higher can use that route. if any trunk group will not make the call it means that the tgar's on the route data block match.

ld 16
chg
rdb
x
at the tgar prompt x1.. 1 is the default on all routes, i always use x1 at that prompt. tgar and targ are only used to block users from paging, and they keep patients off of my ld routes, patients are ncos 1, tgar 1, ld route is targ 1, the frl on that rlb requires a fac for 4 and below. ncos 4 is for allow 411, ld with a fac, no int.. average admin is ncos 3, no 411 or 1 xxx 555 allowed, ld with a fac, no international.. ncos 7, vp's and telephone man, is no fac, free international.. that is also the line for fax machines. after i put this in place, ld bill dropped from 260k to 190k.. saved 70 thou a month so the customer bought me lunch and gave the vp a bonus...
