Hello to all
we would like to restrick long distance call's on a phone but would like to be able to make some long distance with an acces code can anyone help please
 
You could build a new NCOS for that phone, but that's kind of nuts

on your long distant route, look and see what your ACOD is, that is an access code. You can then restrict phones that can use the access code with TARG and TGAR

Give it an NCOS that only allows "in house calls" then create an AUTH code (LD 88) to be used for any calls offswitch

some of the advice here is good. i would just change the NCOS to 0 and then make some test calls to make sure that this person is restricted from any LD numbers.
 
to enable auth codes, go to 88 and prt then build aub then aut.. then go to your rlb in 86 and change your mfrl to the nocs that will get a auth code.. in the cdb there is a prompt that sets the length of auth code... if you decide to go that route and have access to command line and ld 88.. let us know, several of us have those in our switch and can help

This is not to SANDMAN but just for general trivia

Someone making $12/hour + benefits costs about 25 cents/minute to be on a personal local call. It's conceivable that a majority of administrative office-bound employees cost and average of $2 to $4 a week day because of personal calls placed or prolonged to break the daily grind. Local is no different than Long Distance - and for short calls it costs more to leave the area to find a capable phone than any long distance rate.

When I am asked for an opinion on an employees phone usage, I only look for excessive duration unless the call count resembles a bookmaking operation.

10 two minute calls a day vs. one 20 minute call a day are similar charges but very different costs.

It is interesting how rates have changed too. A 4 minute long distance call anywhere in the US can often be less than a local call on a traditional measured trunk.

i agree with that but auth code dropped our ld from 180k to just under 70k a month... i don't think it stops all personal calls but if the users "think" someone is keeping track they will make fewer calls... the only time anyone looks at the usage is if a director request it for an auth code or station.. it may have helped when i went through the switch and changed around 200 stations from ncos 7 to ncos 1... i did have to change 6 stations back because the dept manager did not respond to my email requesting names for those stations..

JP, outstanding accomplishment. When I was at a Childrens Hospital, we hired someone who wanted Auth Codes...he was the CIO from Cleveland Clinic (big... more security staff than Cleveland had Police Officers + about 20 manned operator consoles during the day - that's the only statistic I could get while visiting)

I tried and succeeded in killing Auth Codes (even Auth Code Cond. Last as well as carrier codes) Our LD was only about $5000/month on a 3500 line 81C - so what could Auth really do...

I am impressed how effective your implementation was... PBX or Carrier codes?

AHST print whole history file
PHST print only new stuff since you did your last AHST/PHST
 
pbx codes, like most of us i perfer to delete or add.change codes from command line not a land line.. all i think auth codes do is remind the user that calls are not free and someone may be watching.. i don't think anyone would not make a required call, personal or not because of an auth code..
