i am an administrator on a network and i wish to able to log out workstations remotely from my machine.

the only software i could come accrosss is on
but that is only a trial version

does anyone know of other software solutions

i would appreciate any help

You could use VNC. It will give you access to their desktop, at which point you can log the user out.

However you will lose connection at this time, and will not be able to log them back in.

Hope this helps... mot98..[peace]

If you just log out, you will not lose the connection. That's true only if you shut-down. At least that's the way it works on our NT server.

vnc server needs to be installed as a service and be started and then u wont lose connection when u log out. But it is a messy solution as i dont want users to know they are being logged out.

any other solutions ??

The NT Resource Kit has a utility that will do it. There's a tool called Shutgui.exe, a Shutdown Manager. It gives you the option to reboot the PC after shutdown. There's also shutdown.exe which is a command line version of Shutgui.exe.

There's also the logoff.exe util in the ResKit, but I think that only logs off locally.

Hope this helps!
