new users logging into our win2k domain on win98 clients get "domain pwd wrong or access to server denied." but they can successfully log in on winXP clients and old users can still successfully use the win98 machines. i've tried recreating the new users' accounts and even copying from old accounts and renaming - nothing. whats up with that? thanks.

you may want to look at your Ipc$ share on you win2k server. I am assuming you have win2k server or an up to date NT version. Not that this is your problem, but were I work we had simular errors because somone (hacker) del the IPC$ share on startup with a script. This caused any OS below 2k not to login.

thanks for the suggestion - i checked and IPC$ is still shared. the thing is that old users can still log on using these win98 machines; it's just the new users who cannot.

Are the new users a member of the "Domain Users" group? Good luck, and Happy Computing

hmm. i havent verified that, but if they arent, why would they be able to log on using winxp machines? i will check that out though. thanks mjinks61!
