logon takes forever

I don't know if this is new, if not, please provide me a link. We have a w2k dc and w2k workstations. These past few days, we literally have to wait 30 mins. before we can login to the server. I 've checked the event view of each workstations and it says " Attempt to update DNS Host name of the computer in AD failed. The update value was "workstation.domain". The following error occured: The RPC server is unavailable." Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like DNS isn't configured correctly. Workstations should point to the server ONLY, server should point to itself or other internal DNS servers.
