Hi all

I have connected 2 Windows 2000 stations onto a Windows 2000 server. the problem I am having is that it takes about 1 minute 40 seconds to logon. it shouldn't take that long should it.

On batch file, where do they need to be placed on the server to run at logon.

Your scripts should be placed on your domain controller. The path to the login scripts should look like this: \\Server_Name\SYSVOL\Domain_Name\scripts\department location\user name.
Ususally when you run dcpromo it asks where you want the SYSVOL directory to be placed the default is c:\winnt
We name our login scripts the same as the user name.
So under Active Directory Users and Computers find a user that has a login script. Right Click on users name and go to properties. Under the the profile tab, type in where the logon script is located and batch file name. We place all batch files for the departments under seperate folders and looks like this.
logon script directory on the Domain Controller c:\winnt\sysvol\domain\scripts\"My department location"\batch file name.
under my account profile for login script it has My Department name\batch file name.
Example: \\ServerName\sysvol\Microsoft\Systems\BillGates.bat

I hope this helps.

Cheers for that, I'll give that a go tomorrow.

Does anyone know why my login is slow though.

My logons take about the same length of time. I've been wondering if that is normal as well. Doesn't seem normal. I've seen normal before and I don't think this is it.
