I have an NT 4.0 Workstation that I want to share its C-drive. I set up a new share for the drive and called it "C-DRIVE". I set the permissions to Everyone-Full Control.
I turned on the Guest Account but when I try to get to the drive from any other computers (WIN 98, NT SERVERS) I am asked for a username and password. What do I do in order to automatically be able to see the Shared drive without entering a username and password?

We have a peer-to-peer network with only a workgroup.

Did you set permissions on security AND sharing?

Your PC will automatically try to connect using your logged on credentials ie. if you were logged onto your PC as GUEST then your PC would automatically authenticate you to the share on the other workstation. If no matching credentials are found on the share workstation, you will be prompted.

With NT, you can create a batch file that automatically supplies the credentials. Eg. your batch file would be something like this:

NET USE T: \\NT4WORKSTATION\SHARENAME /USER:GUEST PASSWORD

With 98 it is more tricky and a right pain in the backside! -----------------------------------------------------
