I have login scripts xxx.bat files with are linked to user profiles.
My question: Which path is the valid path for bat files as login scripts to map drives.
It seems that my stuff is one mess. Different login scripts all over the network.
Must i use the GPO to link login scripts or must i use the user profile and add the bat files there.

Within the properties of each user profile on the profile tab you specify the logon script in the "Logon script" box.

On each of your domain controllers you will see a shared folder called NETLOGON.

The path to this folder on each DC is
C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\your_domain_name.com\SCRIPTS

Within the SCRIPTS folder that is where you place your .BAT file(s) or scripts

It is usual to only have one script for all users. Something like Kixtart script is ideal for this.

Then in your script you map drives as appropriate.

In an Active Directory setup you really should use GP to assign logon scripts, the box in the profile tab is provided for backwards compatibility e.g. NT4/9x.

Take a look at this FAQ faq329-5798

When you are the IT director, it's your job to make sure the IT works. If it does work they know already and if it doesn't, they don't want to hear your pathetic excuses.
