Hi...I need to write a login script that will do the following:

1. Check the user's version of IE.
2. Update the version to 6.0 if their version is not this.

Does anybody know where I can find information about how I can do this?

Thank you

You cannot take action on a clients machine throug a browser. You can detect the browser version of the person surfing to your webpage and inform them that your web site requires IE6.0

Giving a web script the ability to take action on a clients machine outside the web browser container is an extreme security hazard and is not permitted by any browser.

The best way to handle your situation is a pop-up notifying them of the problem and a link to the download or a redirect.
