login failed catalog information cannot be retrieved 1

Hello all,

I'm getting an error 'login failed catalog information cannot be retrieved' When I try to create a connection in an ADP to SQL SERVER using the DataLink .. if I try making the connection in code I'm getting the same type of error, anyone have any ideas or possible solutions? Thanks in advance

If you have client tools like Enterprise Manager or Query Analyzer on your PC, try to connect that way. If it doesn't work, there's probably a network issue preventing your connection.

If it does work, then it might be a permissions In SQL issue.

Thanks for the prompt reply, I can connect to it fine in enterprise manager.. and I used to be able to setup up an ADP (as of a couple days ago), there was an antivirus update, other then that I don't know of anything new that would be complicating matters

Perhaps it's a firewall issue. Have you checked the client to see if the anti-virus update included a Windows XP update or a anti-virus company related firewall update?

I'll try and figure that out, I'm a coop student working a summer term as a programmer, but as of right now I don't have priv's to do much of anything on my machine, so I'll ask the SA if he ever comes online again,

Figured it out.. default database got unset somehow on the server
