Hi Everyone

We have a server running Windows 2003 SP1.
We are running hardware raid 1 (Mirror) and during the installation created the partition using the default setting of the entire partition. (Full Size)

We now need to create a second logical volume on on the same mirror, but obviously the entire drive is already configured as one partition/Volume.
Is there a way to shrink this in order to create a new logical volume?
I believe that Partition Magic should work? But we are looking for some free way (Preferably not third party)

Thanks for your assistance.

If all you want to do is shrink the partition you may get away with GParted (do a google).

Partition Magic will not work since that is for clients only not servers.

Symantec, Paragon and Acronis all make disk management tools that would do the job but you are talking upwards of $500 for a single license. Basically the server versions do 1% more than the client versions but cost 10x as much.

MS also do a free tool called Diskpart but I've never used it in anger. Not sure if it works on the system partition.
