Hello,

I downloaded a database tool that reverse engineered the database creating logical model of the database. Its an ER diagram. The database has around 100 tables and so, the diagram won't fit in one screen. Does anyone has any idea how that diagram should be shown to someone or printed on a chart? Also, can you recommend a good tool?

If you're talking about Oracle Designer then it's diagrams may be copy-pasted/grag-n-dropped to MS Word to become, if my memory doesn't fail, gifs or so. Thus you may shrink them to any size and print on a good printer. 100 tables is not a huge number for A2.

Regards, Dima

Typically, you try to group tables by subject areas. Then you try to get the subject areas arranged such that the table which bridge two subject areas are between them (such as order between customer and product). We also try to avoid crossing relationship lines as much as possible. This is probably impossible with 100 tables.

Regarding display, sometimes diagrams can be exported to HTML. Also, some companies (like mine) have a plotter which can print very large printfiles. If your company does not have one, a store like Kinko's might be able to help.
