Logging onto a Citrix Server

Here is the situation. We have Roaming profiles turned on here at our work. We have users that are logging into a Citrix Server in a different location and it takes about 10 minutes for each user to log in because it is carrying over there roaming profile. Is there a way without turning off the Roaming Profiles and making the logon to Citrix faster? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

For Citrix you should be using the Terminal Server profile setting (win2K). As long as the path there is to a share on the same physical network to the citrix server then it shouldnt take long for the person to log in.

It might take a while the first time while it creates the profile but after that it should be a lot quicker.

If you have Win 2000 with AD. One of the tabs on the user details is Terminal Services Profile. Within this tab there is a roaming profile path setting. You can enter a path here for terminal services roaming profile.

If you are using NT with Citrix metaframe, then on the citrix server run user manager for domains. From here where you enter the roaming profile path you will see new option to enter a terminal services path. For this you need to do it from the citrix machine.

Another thing to do is to make sure windows removes the cached profiles from the citrix servers or you might find the hard disk starting to fill up if you have loads of users. Cannot remember where to do this on NT think its a registary settings. Within 2000 though, you can set this within Group Policy.
