Is there any way for us to allow users to logoff their phones? The only method we can find thus far is to reset the system. Anybody know?

what do you mean by logging off ?
do you want to change a user on the phone or do you want to give it another ipadres or something ?

login off can be done by *36
give the nouser user a login button and everyone with a login code can login on a phone that is logged off

if you want to give the phone another ipadress or change something then you can pull the patchcable or indeed do the mute reset combination

When the system is restarted, no one is logged on. Each phone has no user and just a blank extension. How do I do that to one specific phone without resetting the entire system? When we dial *36, Call Rejected =(

when you reset the ip office it is normal that every user is logged off
i am not sure but i believe that installing delta server will stop that
it remembers the user in a way (this used to be)

do you have asystem shortcode *36 ?
you can make your own shortcode with the feature log off

It's okay that when the system resets, the user is logged off. We simply want to be able to have the user currently logged on to logoff from their phone using something like a shortcode. Yes, *36 is listed in the shortcodes with the feature "Extn Logout", but the call is rejected when I try it. I tried to create a new shortcode with the same feature but with a different number (*97), but the same still happened.

If its a 4.0 system, it won't let users log off unless they have a login code.

[That stops people on systems who don't know about logging on/off from finding themselves logged off and clueless on how to log back in]

So if that is the case you just need to add a few login codes on the User | Telephony tabs in IP Office Manager.

A-Ha! You've gotta have a login code to be able to logoff, which now makes a lot of sense. Thanks everyone, especially sizbut!

New problem with logging off...

We had an employee log on their phone as the wrong user. We thought "Oh, we know how to fix this." We added a password and merged the config, yet we still could not logoff with the shortcode. We then added passwords to users that were not currently logged on, merged the config, and we were able to login those users without the password. I'm assuming now that we must reset the system for the password to take effect? If so, that would defeat the purpose of changing the password, since resetting logs all users off.

Anybody have an answer for this?
