Working on IPO V7.0(36)
Using Embedded Voicemail
All users have voicemail enabled with a numerical Voicemail Code programmed.

ISSUE
Want to enable users to be able to log in and access their mailbox from a location other than their assigned phone.

SYMPTOMS
When a user calls their extension, from a location other than their own, they get their greeting and while the greeting is being played, they press 8.

Instead of the system prompting them for their access code, the greeting continues to play followed by the "beep" to leave a message.

This happens whether the call is originated internally or the call comes in externally via DID.

Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks in advance.

to get outside access just create a button on the autoattendant then choose dial *17. make sure to edit the short code *17 by taking out the "U" before the "?".

try *7 when they get their own greeting

Westi,

*7 gets same result, no interruption of voicemail greeting.

Thanks IPOTech,

It is my desire to have users dial their dedicated DID number when out of the office or their ext number, when they are in the office but not at their desk to be able to access their voice mail without going through the auto attendant.

The "IP Office Mailbox Mode User Guide", in the section entitled "Logging in to Your Mailbox From a Different Location", there are 3 steps detailed to accomplish this:

1. Dial your extension number.
2. When you hear your voicemail greeting, press 8. You are asked for your access code, if you have set one.
3. Enter your access code. You can now check your messages.

Any insights?

if you have an available line build an incoming call handling route that points to an auto-attd that has a dial action for *17, I always build one for employees to access voicemail remotely

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm acss aura messaging.

Embedded has to be in Intuity mode and it would be **7. Also you have to be logged into a vm box.... won't do it from the greeting. Externally you have to set up an action from the AA to get logged in if I remember correctly. Or you may be able to set it up from the DTMF breakout sent to a collect voicemail shortcut.

A genius doesn't solve problems, he prevents them~~!!~~

Why? Just use the destination "Voicemail" in Incoming call route, it's in the destination dropdown box....that's what it's for, no need to build anything :)

amriddle, good point, I guess the reason I do it this way is because the customer want employee directory etc... but point well taken. thanks!!!

Amriddle,

Thanks. Pointed a free DID to "Voicemail" and that works.
Any idea as to why the "When you hear your voicemail greeting, press 8. You are asked for your access code, if you have set one" instruction doesn't even work from an internal ext calling another?

No remote access to mailbox from your greeting in embedded voicemail, you have the VM Pro IP Office mode user guide there!

To access another mialbox internally you have to call from and untrusted source (no entry in source number). Externally you have to go via call route/DDI using voicemail as the destination or through auto attendant and *17.

Ekster,

At test extension, there are no Source Number entries. Even deleted the default one.
Internally called this test extension from another.
Test extension voicemail greeting plays.
Press 8 during greeting and greeting continues to play.
There is no interruption of the greeting with a prompt to enter password.

You have embedded, the press 8 thing is for VM Pro :)

Thanks to amriddle for the link and to all for your responses. The manual that I was initially referencing, which is titled "IP Office Release 7.0, IP Office Embedded Voicemail User Guide" has language that is quite different than the link that amriddle referenced. Going with the amriddle manual, it is quite clear what I need to do. Thanks again.
