Locked Out XP Installation

A colleague of mine, used the CD key of an already activated XP account on one our workstations. However the XP box has been locked out.ANy tips on how to unlock the installation and change the key?

I believe if you go through the activation process you will get an option to put in a new key. THis way you dont have to reinstall XP.
