Hi,

We have a database setup on our company's server. All users have Access Runtime to open up the database. For some reason, when we add a shortcut to the database for new users, we keep receiving the message "Could Not Lock File". This only happens to some users, but not all. And it usually goes away after a while. Does anyone know why this is occuring. It even happens when there are no other users in the database. Any ideas?

Thanks,
TN

We have had a similiar problem before. When Access is shared on a network server the clients are actually opening a copy of the original database. If the users don't have the proper permissions on the network folder to read, write, update and delete then they won't be able to use the database. When we changed the NT permissions the database worked fine.
