Looking at an off-the-shelf application here that has an option that is stored as a registry key. What we'd like to do is lock that particular key so that users cannot change the option. Is anyone aware of a way to lock down the one key?

Thanks!

Use regedit, right-click on the key, select Permissions.

Is it possible to lock the administrator (or an account with administrator privledges) out of this particular key?

Thanks!

Remove the administrator account or group from the permissions box?

bill - don't you still need to use regedt32 to change permissions in 2k?

630111 - you can remove administrator permissions, but you can't stop and administrator user taking ownership, and restoring permissions.
