I have set in a local group policy to allow local program exceptions under windows firewall. I have since removed the local policy and decided to run it on the domain gp. When I run the gpresult tool the local group policy still shows up under applied group policy objects.

Is there any way to get rid of the local group policy from showing up on gpresult?

Hello fuller772.
I think it would still show, because the settings are already applied. When you remove the Group Policy Object you stop the settings being applied again in the future, but don't actually clear the settings that have already been applied.
Could you try editing the Local Group Policy Object so that all Enabled or Disabled settings are reverted to Not Configured? Then wait for these settings to apply and run gpresult again.

I guess I should have mentioned that I had already done that. I did edit the Local Group Policy back to the way it was "not configured". Now it has been a day or so and many reboots later. Local Group Policy still shows as applied on gpresult.

Do you know of any way to make sure that there are no settings "set" on local group policy? It sure is a pain to have to check every single entry. Or do you have any other ideas?

Hi fuller772 - to be totally honest, the best suggestion I can make is that you post this query in the Server 2000 or 2003 forums as this is probably a little above my level. Good luck!
