Hi there,

For some reason the Local Group Policy is not being applied on my laptops. Does anyone know whats causing this? I've checked using GPRESULT and the only one applied is Default Domain Policy.

I've now even added the PC to the security of the Default Domain Policy to deny it the policy and I still receive no local policy (and obvioulsy no default domain policy). Even logged in locally I still don't get the policy applied even though I can access and read all files in the \System32\Group Policy\ folder!!

Please help!!!!!!

Hello Glenn,

Domain policies are always overwrite local policy.
Try the following experement:
apply some other GP to your PC that has NO setiings (mean GP).
Disconnect PC from the network.
Log on locally.
Setup Local Policy.
Does it work now?

P.S. anyway use auditing to determine the source of the problem.

Hope it will be useful

Hi Victor,

Thanks for that. I had tried logging in locally too and it was still failing! It turns out in the end that the gpt.ini file in the \GroupPolicy folder was corrupt on the RIS server. It took me a while to find the fault but I got there in the end.

Thanks anyway, Glenn

if everything is ok with the policy, disjoin the workstation form the domain, make the DNS point to your DC, and join then back into the domain...
