Hello all.
just curious, I have a Windows 2003 Server with two built in nics. I would love to be able to distribute the load between the two nics and thought that that was what the built in load balancing service does. But upon reading some white papers, it looks like this build in load balancing service is more meant for clustering multiple computers and not so much for distributing the load across two nics in the same machine. Am I correct in thinking this? Is there another solution I should be looking at?

thanks.

You are correct, load balancing is between 2 or more servers. What you want is called nic teaming and windows doesnt natively support this. You will need atleast two identical nics and the nic manufacture must support and provide the drivers for teaming.

Hope this helps,

thanks Roadki11.

you just saved me from spending a whole bunch of time going down the wrong path!
