LiteOn 48161H missing on bootup ---> after install

Installed new DVD/CD drive OK. (recognized and installs fine)

But, on re-boot drive is not available.
It IS in BIOS.
It's NOT in device manager, or windows.

I have to re-run the New hardware utility to get it to list in W2K SP4.

LiteOn sent me an Email, saying it's because I installed an application that fuxing it up. I have NO DVD software installed yet!

Just thought I'd post my fix.

I had the drive on IDE1 as primary.

I moved it to IDE2 as primary.
(documentation for drive 'suggests' using IDE2. should say ... works on IDE2 only )

In my case anyway ...
