I am having problems installing linux on my machine. Red Hat doesn't work, but Caldera's Open Linux does.
The Red Hat install goes fine (I have tried 6.1, 6.2, and 7). The problem is that on reboot, the lilo prompt goes into an infinite loop, never being able to mount and boot the kernel. I have tried a low level format, but this doesn't work. Is Red Hat's loader not compatible with my hard drive (Western Digital Caviar 2200) or something? by the way, a friend of mine has my exact same system, so I am pretty sure it is the hard drive. Have any of you experienced this problem before? ray

tried that, same problem, just takes longer to act like it is loading :) tried all you said. I guess I will just stick with Caldera, although I would like to get red hat working since that is what we have in the lab at school ray
