Linux Sig Sever

Can anyone share the procedure on how to patch a Linux Sig Server. I am using winscp.

Why use that. Just log into the Base Manager and there is a section to load patches. Its simple and easy that way.

Base Manager <ip address>/local-login

Then log in with the admin2 user and you should get there no problems. The nice thing is, get on the linux shell and run:

sig-server#issp

copy the output and put in the Delta tool and it will create a zip file of only the patches that you need.

It seems daunting since they STOPPED HOLDING THE PATCHING CLASS!!, but I will save that for another rant.

It created a .ntl file. Should I upload that file or change it to a zip and extract all the files?

Is this a Primary, backup or member server? In 7.5 there are 3 base patches that have to be installed via command line first. Then you deploy and then you put in the SP.

In 7.5 you have to use the patch manager to install the SP. The nice thing about doing the 3 base patches through the CLI is you can actually see what is going on. I use winscp to copy the files over into the patch folder and the use the cli commands to pload and pins the patches. DO NOT put in the SP via the CLI in 7.5, it will break it. You have to use patch manager.

Base level patches were loaded during the initial implementation. The system patch is out dated. Can everything be done from the Base manager?

What release are you on? When you say can everything be done in base manager what do you mean by everything?

I am on release 7.5. I paste the issp on the espl and pulled down a .ntl file. Do i need to change to a zip and extract or can I load the .ntl file via Base Manager/patch manager and install?

The file stays .ntl, not .zip. You can load it through base manager or patch manager

Make sure those 3 base patches are in first and you have already deployed.

Are you putting in a Service Pack?

You do not extract it. Just change the file extension to .ntl. If you look on the Avaya website it tells you to do exactly that.
